María de Molina

D.O. Rueda

Created in 1980, the Designation of Origin Rueda is the oldest in Castilla y León. The cultivation of vines in this region is documented since the Middle Ages, especially the production of red wines. However, since the Spanish Golden Age, yellow and gold wines become increasingly significant.

FRUTOS VILLAR

In order to preserve the maximum expression of Verdejo, the grapes undergo a 36-hour maceration. The must is fermented without skins in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature of 15ºC, which allows the freshness and characteristic aromas of the variety to be maintained, while obtaining an elegant and balanced wine. The result is wine of a clean and bright, straw yellow colour,  and an aroma that displays a great diversity of fruity tones, notes of exotic fruit and hints of aniseed. Its flavour is powerful, with an acid freshness that prolongs its passage, leaving a retronasal finish with the characteristic bitterness of Verdejo, which adds complexity and a pleasant presence.

This wine is exclusively ellaborated with Verdejo grapes from the D.O. Rueda, which reflect the purity and freshness of this emblematic vineyard. The intense aroma and complexity in mouth are the most characteristic features of this variety.

Location

SINCE 1980

The D.O. Rueda equals excellence. The varieties Verdejo, the Viura, the Sauvignon-Blanc, or the Palomino are all defined by the location, which confers to them unique qualities present in Rueda wines.

At an altitude of 750 m, or even 850 m in the province of Segovia, the gravelly and stony soils, characterized by a lack of organic matter and excellent aereation and drainage, as well as optimum temperature conditions – with an average temperature of 13ºC –  give the wine volume and its hallmark, a bitter touch that is accompanied by a fruity expression

The great harmony of these wines invite for an unparalleled and unique tasting.
