Conde de Siruela Winery

D.O. Ribera del Duero

The exact date and origin of the first wineries in the region are unknown, but the presence and cultivation of vines in the Ribera del Duero area is documented since antiquity. The Romans introduced the vine and its cultivation in a stable manner, although it is known that pre-Roman peoples such as the Vaccei an the Arevaci, local to this region, already cultivated the vineyards.

Cellar in LA HORRA

La Horra is a municipality from the Burgos region, which is located 76 km from the capital and only 7 km north of Roa, in the Ribera del Duero area at an altitude of 802 m.. La Horra is one the leading towns in the cultivation and ellaboration of D.O. Ribera del Duero wines, both for the quantity and the quality of its product. This is also explained by the proliferation of modern cellars which have been recently established in the area.

La Horra is honoured to be the first village in which the Cabernet Sauvignon variety was introduced. This grape variety was brought by the Frenchman Martin Dumas from Bordeaux, who then founded the first house of his congregation in La Horra.
