D.O. Toro

The wines ellaborated in Toro have a long-established tradition. Its origins are previous even to the arrival of the Romans to the area.

These have always been highly-appreciated wines of great quality. In the Middle Ages, the wines were granted royal privileges to be commercialized in cities where the sale of other wines was forbidden.

CELLAR IN TORO

The traditional ellaboration of wine has been passed down from one generation to the next, which accounts for the true marvels produced today in the region.

Frutos Villar was the first established winery to began commercializing Toro wine, ca. 1920.

The choice of location for this first winery is due to the fact that Toro is one of the oldest wine-growing areas in Spain, characterized by the quality and originality of its red wines.

FIRST WINERY IN TORO

At the beginning of this century started a professional journey for the Frutos Villar family within the regional wine market, acquiring and selling D.O. Toro wines at a local level.

From the start, Frutos Villar has been characterized by a search for quality, always attending the needs and preferences of their clients.

Such was the expansion and development of this growing family company, that the first winery was built in Toro (Zamora, Spain) in 1920 with the goal of surpassing and improving the production. In the following years, a private vineyard is obtained, with a total extension of 94 hectares.
